Capacity Building
People’s CORE trains community members on organizing, action planning, participatory action research, leadership development, teambuilding, public speaking and more. People’s CORE uses active participatory methods to develop the skills and knowledge of community members, ultimately increasing their leadership capacity. People’s CORE emphasizes the active involvement, education and training of disenfranchised populations in order to engage and mobilize people to identify and address the problems and issues in their communities.
Youth Media Arts Project (YMAP)
People’s CORE trains high school youth in multimedia projects including documentaries, digital storytelling videos, and music production. YMAP bridges the technology gap by offering young people in poor communities of color hands-on training in multimedia production. Youth are given opportunity to voice the social issues affecting their community through various mediums of art and technology.
